Abstract: In this paper the area and power-efficient method is presented to design and implement Static-RAM Cell. Static-RAM is one of the essential building block for the VLSI design. Due to their higher speed Static-RAM based Cache memories and System-on-chips are commonly used. Due to device scaling there are several design challenges for Static-RAM design in nanometer technology. The Static-RAM implementation is based on 90 nm CMOS submicron technology The auto generated and semi-customed proposed layout of Static-RAM cells using 6T has been obtained and compared. It can be observed from the results that Semi-customed layout gives 21.77% more power reduction and 30.5 % area reduction for Static-RAM Cell.

Abstract: Welding is the most preferred fabrication method in ship, aircraft, automotive and bridge building industries. As a result residual stresses are developed in welded joints. Residual stresses are primarily develop due to differential weld thermal cycle (heating, peak temperature and cooling at the any moment during welding)experienced by the weld metal and region closed to fusion boundary i.e. heat affected zone. It causes brittle fracture and corrosion cracking, reduce the buckling strength and fatigue life. So it is important, therefore, to understand the distribution of residual stresses on the surface of the welded components in and near the welding zone. This paper presents a method to model mechanical behaviour of weld joint in the presence of residual stresses using deformation theory of plasticity. Residual stresses are estimated numerically and values are assigned as an initial stress in finite element model of weld joint. The weldment specimen model is subjected to static loading and effect of residual stress on local yielding is investigated. ANSYS is used for this purpose. The response of weld joint to monotonically increasing tensile load is determined experimentally by conducting transverse and longitudinal tension tests to validate simulation model.

Abstract: The floating point unit (FPU) implemented during this project, is a 32-bit processing unit which allows arithmetic operations on floating point numbers. The FPU fully compiled using the IEEE 754 Standard [1]. The FPU supports the following arithmetic operations Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide. For each operation the rounding modes are supported such as Rounded to nearest even number, Round to zero, Round up, Round down. The FPU is generally written in VHDL with top priority to be able to run at approximately 100-MHz and also should be as small as possible. Meeting both results at the same time was very difficult and tradeoffs were made.

Abstract: Zinc Oxide (ZnO) is a technological and promising material due to its unique physical and chemical properties. It is a II-VI semiconductor with wide band gap of 3.3 eV. It has potential applications in many areas such as optoelectronic devices, solar cells, chemical sensors, piezoelectric devices, spintronics etc. In the present work, ZnO nanoparticles with varying concentration of capping agent were prepared using chemical precipitation method. These particles were characterized using UV-Vis spectroscopy and absorption spectra have been obtained to determine the band gap. The obtained band gap values were in the range 3.405-3.433 eV. It was observed that particle size decreases with increasing capping agent concentration and the absorption edge shifts towards blue region as the capping agent concentration is increased. The effective band gap Eg increases with decreasing the particle size. This response is equivalent to size quantization effect owing to the small size of the particles. Using the effective mass approximation formula, the particle size of nanoparticles has been estimated.

Abstract: This paper picturesquely depicts the comparison of different methodologies adopted for predicting the load forecastingand highlights the changing trend and values under new circumstances using latest non analytical soft computing techniques employed in the field of electrical load forecasting. A very clear advocacy about the changing trends from conventional and obsolete to the modern techniques is explained in very simple way. Load forecast has been a central and an integral process in the planning and operation of electric utilities. Many techniques and approaches have been investigated to tackle this problem in the last two decades. These are often different in nature and apply different engineering considerations and economic analysis. Further a clear comparison is also presented between the past standard practices with the current methodology of electrical load demand forecasting. Besides all this, different important points are highlighted which need special attention while doing load forecasting when the environment is competitive and deregulated one.

Abstract: Web pages typically contain redundant information like banner ads, navigation bars, copy right and privacy notice, advertisements etc. Existing schemes proposed by various authors are not able to extract similar blocks from multiple web sites. To the best of our knowledge none of the authors had proposed the scheme which extracts the similar contents from multiple websites. We have proposed an algorithm, Similar Content Extraction Algorithm (SCEA), which will extract the similar content from multiple websites. In this algorithm, we design Document Object Model (DOM) using HTML parser which helps to segments the document into blocks. SCEA based on page segmentation algorithm which segments the web page into homogeneous blocks. Partitioning the pages into homogeneous blocks helps to check the similarity between two blocks. Our algorithm checks the similarity between two blocks using similarity Features Vector which compares similarity features with set threshold value. SCEA aims to provide more efficient results to the customers on their particular search.

Abstract: In the present world it is essential to find an alternate fuel source due to the increased industrialization and depletion in natural resources. The method of obtaining biodiesel from various sources and blending them with diesel is adopted in many economically developed and developing countries around the world. The aim of this paper is to investigate the utilization of Palm oil Methyl Ester (POME) blends with diesel at various loads on CI engine. The performance and combustion characteristics of B10, B20, B30, B40 and B50 blends of palm oil with diesel at various loads on C.I. Engine are studied and study that the blends of biodiesel with diesel could be substitute in the place of pure diesel and be used as an alternate source of fuel in the near future, thus saving the natural resources for the future generation. Performance parameter like brake thermal efficiency, specific fuel consumption, brake mean effective pressure, brake power will evaluate and final conclusion will be drawn.

Abstract: This project enhances the protection of the sensitive nonlinear loads from Power Quality problems like sag, swell, harmonics etc. A Dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) is one of the custom power devices which are connected in series between the supply and critical loads. Different control techniques are used for the generation of compensating voltages for controlling the dynamic voltage restorer (DVR). In this paper, a Synchronous Reference Frame Theory (SRF) based self-supported DVR has been proposed. It maintains the balanced sinusoidal load voltage with desired magnitude against any power quality problems like voltage sag, swell harmonics etc. Simulation are analyzed for different operating conditions and carried out through MATLAB\SIMULINK environment.
